FEDERAL AND STATE GOVERNMENT UPDATES

Federal Faith-Based Funding Update

Compassion Capital Fund (CCF)

For the 2008 grant cycle, Congress did not provide funding for new Compassion Capital Fund (CCF) grant awards. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no funding opportunities for the CCF Demonstration program, the CCF Targeted Capacity Building program, or the CCF Communities Empowering Youth program this year. Funding for future grant cycles will be determined, as always, by future congressional appropriations.

If you are interested, you may be able to apply for a subaward from one of the current CCF intermediaries. Please view the map of current CCF intermediaries to see if an intermediary project is serving your area.

You may also subscribe to our newsletter for information about other funding opportunities, or visit the HHS Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives Web site.

Directory of Foundation Workforce Grant Opportunities —
A National Guide for Faith-Based & Community Organizations

sponsored by: The U.S. Dept of Labor Center for Faith and Community Based Initiatives

Many faith-based and community organizations (FBCO) involved in workforce or economic development face the challenge of locating funding that fits their mission and services. The Directory of Foundation Workforce Development Grant Opportunities booklet is a resource for these organizations looking for funding opportunities for their workforce development or economic development programs. This directory provides a detailed list of private and corporate foundations that provide grant opportunities to FBCOs in order to give community organizations a clear and concise tool to pursue grants. These lists provide a detailed explanation of each grant and contact information to more easily determine eligibility.

  • CCF helps faith-based and community organizations increase their effectiveness and enhance their ability to provide social services by building their organizational capacity. CCF works through intermediary organizations that serve as a bridge between the Federal government and faith-based and community organizations. Intermediary organizations provide technical assistance and capacity-building sub-awards.
  • CCF’s Communities Empowering Youth program seeks to build the capacity of faith-based and community groups working to combat gang activity and youth violence. CCF also awards one-time capacity-building grants of $50,000 directly to faith-based and community organizations.
